Arthur Kirkland checked his cellphone for perhaps the 15th time, only to find that it had passed 15 minutes - gee, what could that mean? - since he first stepped inside the cafe. He'd come a bit early, as per his usual habit, but found himself to be a little more antsy than he'd expected to be.
"This is stupid," he muttered to himself, taking a drink of his tea before taking another look at his cellphone. "Damn."
It was probably because he hadn't spent quality time with Allie for such a long time, that he felt so nervous. After all, when was the last time he'd hung out with her one-on-one?
The Englishman thought back, briefly closing his eyes as he did so. Ah, yes... it was when she was still young. Even now, he could clearly remember her bright blue eyes as she stared up at him, lips curved into a silly little grin as she said, "Engwand! Engwand, I want a piggy back ride!"...
Arthur sighed, and checked his phone again.

Normally Allie F. Jones would have felt bad for running late once again on someone. But considering how Arthur was being Lord of the Grumpy Pants on this whole deal and the fact that he just hung up on her yesterday, she figured the smug little bastard could wait. How dare he just demand that she meet up with him! She wasn't some sort of servant girl! Didn't he already have one of those anyways? She was Allie F. Jones, awesome heroine! And the only thing she served was justice and the Hero Codebook. Besides, it took some time to dig out something "appropiate" to wear. She wasn't the type of person to get all girly and stuff! Casual was all the way to go! And don't get her wrong, she was not doing this because he asked her to wear something appropiate! Allie was doing this because she wanted to try something different! That was all! Americans were known for their amazing adaptation skills! So, it had absolutely nothing to do with what Arthur Kirkland said. Besides, why would she care what the old man thought anyways? It wasn't like she was seeking to gain his approval or anything like that. That just wasn't awesome! Or maybe she was. And half the time she pulled the crazy shit she did on him was so that he would look at her. Like hell she'd ever speak those thoughts aloud. That was for her awesome "Confessions of a Teenaged Super Hero" diary she kept. So, the eighteen year walked into the cafe fifteen minutes late from the appointed time as if she had not a care in the world. Because she had her pride. And of course, her blue eyes spotted him as she lazily waved towards him. Arriving at his table, she plopped into the chair right across from him and flashed him one of her trademark grins. "Howdy Arty~" greeted Allie in a rather accentuated Southern drawl. And she tipped the cap she was currently wearing as if it was her trusty cowgirl hat. God, would she love to ride sometime soon! It was only a matter of time until Arthur commented on her tardiness. He always did.

As always when it came to Alexandra F. Jones, a million thoughts ran through Arthur's head as soon as she made her entrance.
She was finally wearing appropriate clothes, for once. She looked very cute - not that she didn't on a regular basis. She wasn't angry. But most importantly...
"You're 15 minutes late, you twat!" Arthur growled, putting his drink down to shoot the American his usual glare. "Is it really that difficult for you to remember to be on time to an appointment?! What if this habit stays with you after college? What will you do if it gets you fired from a job?!"
He was definitely agitated, that much was true. But at the same time, he really was worried about her. Allie was, after all, one of the people that he valued the most. She was like the little sister he'd never had, the little sister he'd gladly give his life for, even today, as obnoxious as she was. Because to him, no matter how much time passed, she'd always be that little girl he'd met all those years ago; the little girl with the brightest blue eyes and the cheeriest smile...

"Well, that's what you get for just expecting me to show up here like I'm some sort of puppy dog! You don't just demand for me to show up... and then hang up. That's like so not heroic! Or gentlemanly!"[/color] complained the blonde girl to the other. The glare was completely ignored, because by now she was practically immune to them. She had gotten so many of those in the last few years. Both she and her brother.
Allie paused for a moment as a waitress came up to ask for her order. Hmmm what should she get? A soda or a milkshake? She'd been good lately, she absolutely deserved a milkshake! So, she ordered one. Hopefully Arthur wouldn't comment with the "f" word. That evil three-letter "f" word, not the other one. She didn't mind it too much. One of her favorite songs was "America, Fuck Yeah!" after all.
Once the waitress was on her merry little way, she once turned her full attention to the Englishman. "... And you worry too much! I won't get fired from my job! A hero always appears at the right time! 'Tis fate!" she added on complete with a smile full of sparkles and a very optimistic thumbs up, "I'm doing well enough!"

"Well, you didn't have to show up, you annoying prat!" Arthur growled, his tone slightly off as he told the lie. "You should be grateful that I'm treating you, especially since you were the one at fault yesterday!"
And then, sighing, he picked up his tea and took another sip. Almost immediately, he found himself about to comment on Allie's choice of drink, but he was fortunately able to stop himself before the words left his lips. For a girl that probably had the best body in the entire school, she was surprisingly sensitive about being called fat.
"Lower your voice," he sighed, placing his tea cup down and putting his cellphone away. "I'm right in front of you, you don't have to shout." He paused, then, not quite sure what else to say. With Allie, he was so used to arguing or criticizing her that he really didn't know what to talk about. Awkwardly, he added, "But that aside, you look... presentable."
